CHECK-OUT
Cheers and tears: It’s a Sin

Russel T Davies at his best. A heartbreaking rendition of the ‘80s Aids crisis, the biggest sin would be not giving this Channel 4 series a watch.

Is NYC the new home of Couture? AREA’s unforgettable debut…

AREA’s celebrity endorsed designers Beckett Fogg and Piotrek Panszcyzk’s leapt onto the Couture calendar with a hop, skip and a BANG. Not only did they keep their clubwear couture in New York instead of flying over to Paris (why has Couture’s seal of approval been bound by geography anyway?) they also kicked sample size casting to the curb. PRECIOUS LEE decked out in a tangerine-orange dress with more tiers than a wedding cake? I’ll have one made to order – wait let me check my overdraft…

CHECK-OUT
Uncomfortably brilliant: The White Tiger

Likened to Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite in its stark undressing of the rich/poor class divide, the trusty Twittersphere has already deemed this Netflix adaption of Aravind Adiga's novel is Oscar-worthy. “It’s the century of the brown man and the yellow man and God save everybody else,” says actor Adarsh Gourav, nominated for best male lead, at the close of the film. And with a powerful prophecy like that, how could they be wrong?

CHECK-OUT
Arlo Parks flips lockdown sunny-side up with debut album

The British singer-songwriter catapulted to superstardom with melt-in-your-mouth Indie track Eugene, now her album Collapsed in Sunbeams is sure to guarantee her name will be forever written in the stars.

CHECK-OUT
Ahem, have you not got a tooth gem?

…or even a full set of marble grills? If you’re prone to shying away from a toothy smile @lisamchlik or @londongrilliz are guaranteed to make you bare all. Get your mind out the gutter.

CHECK-OFF
When there’s still A.Wang, he’s got his way

Sexual allegations by a multitude of male and trans models against Alexander Wang surfaced a month ago, but how has the fashion industry stood up for their victims since? “There were so many people in Hollywood who tirelessly advocated for the ‘#MeToo’ movement, which was truly incredible, but these same people are now turning a blind eye to the current allegations,” stated model Owen Mooney on Instagram, who bravely spoke up first against Wang. “Is there any difference to what is happening now compared to what happened back then? No difference but the fact these assaults are against male, queer and trans people.” Wang’s barbaric behaviour can no longer be swept under the rug, nor can we give less attention to LGBTQIA+ victims of sexual abuse. Show his movement some support and hashtag #UsToo.

CHECK-OFF

CHECK-OFF
Ghosted by Green, a sartorial saga

Unfortunately, the mantra behind Pro Green’s 2010 sell-out hit, Just Be Good To Green, doesn’t quite seem to stretch to Arcadia’s-own Sir Phillip. If ASOS manages to revive Topshop to its former glory, good for them…I guess. But it would have been nice to let the loyal staff losing their jobs in the most turbulent of times know first…before Sky News was tipped off. Dumped on live TV? Don’t be good to Green.
