Magicking the possibility of ‘hot girl summer’ back into lockdown

This is SUBMISSIONS, your creative outlet for all things related to image, film, illustration, graphics and any other medium that you can come up with. For fashion’s next generation, this is your place to submit and share your work, a space to collaborate and create. Basically, if it’s cool and new, we wanna see it! You can submit your next editorial here!

With a proper easing of lockdown still months away and the likelihood of clubs reopening a distant dream (fingers crossed for June 21), dolling up to slump on the sofa all day can feel just as exhausting as painting the town red. And if we do decide to throw on every jewel we own (like an overzealous grandma) and zip up those now-probably-too-tight jeans (that refuse to tell one little white lie), it’s only the grumpy security guard at Sainsbury’s and the neighbour down the hall who last saw you in stain-covered sweats, who can offer an imaginary wink and a much needed slap on the bum.

But who says we can’t do just that? (Personally, I think my neighbour loves watching my beauty transformations). Last month, photographer Rosie Foster teamed up with Oma Benjamin to reminisce the halcyon days of getting glammed up. With a dazzling array of pieces by designer Frances O, the pair magicked the possibility of ‘hot girl summer’ back into lockdown. Let’s face it, nothing says ‘fuck you’ better than a mug full of make-up.
